Covid-19 and Our Services:
Update: 5/17/2020
After being suspended for 8 weeks we have begun meeting physically here at Swissvale Baptist Church. Please be assured that we will do everything we can to insure that our services are clean, safe and ready for you to come back to worship. The following guidelines have been implemented so that we may reopen:
1. We have restricted our gathering to comply with the Governor's phased opening stages. At this time we are in the yellow phase which allows 25 or less. If we come close to exceeding that number, our Trustees & Deacons are prepared to step downstairs if needed.
2. We have thoroughly cleaned and disinfected all surfaces and will continue to do so each week going forward.
3. We will have only the Sunday 11:00 AM service and the Wednesday 6:30 Prayer Meeting until further notice.
4. We will avoid physical contact such as hand shaking
5. We strongly recommend wearing a face mask
6. We have blocked access to some seats to attempt to seat 6 feet apart. Families are encouraged to sit together
7. We will be projecting the songs instead of using the hymnal. We also have reduced the number of songs
8. We will not pass the offering plate but will have a plate on the back table
9. We will continue to post video services on this website and facebook
March 22, 2020
After deep prayer and much discussion, I have come to the decision with the support of the deacons, to suspend all of our services until further notice. This decision is made taking into consideration both the government recommendations, the health & safety of our church family and our surrounding communities and the testimony of our church to the rest of the world. We will be posting our Sunday morning messages here on this website as well as on our facebook page. The message should be ready to view on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM. Be praying for all who have been so greatly impacted by this pandemic and especially for those who are sick or have lost loved ones. We pray that you will keep leaning on our Loving Heavenly Father, His Precious Holy Spirit & His Beloved Son & our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ!
In Jesus' Name,
Pastor Mark E Strangman
Concerning Covid-19:
Please know that the well being of our Members & Attenders is of serious concern for our church. As we seek to honor the Lord our first emphasis of ministry is an individual's spiritual condition, but we also strive to be responsible in every aspect of people's lives, including their emotional & physical well being. With the recent health concern of the Corona Virus (covid-19) becoming widespread and more urgent we seek to honor the Lord and be responsible, therefore:
1. We have decided to suspend our services until a time when the spread of covid-19 is not so great a threat. Worship is still a corporate mandate of the church and we cherish our times together worshiping the Lord as a Body of believers. It is our goal to be back together as soon as is possible and responsible.
2. We will not panic as we know that the Lord is in control of every aspect of our lives. Having expressed our dependence on the Lord we will take every precaution to protect the health of every individual worshiping in our services. We urge each person to avoid physical contact such as hugging and hand shaking. These are precious parts of our fellowship but for the present time we will cease from them.
3. If you aren't feeling well we ask that you use good judgment and avoid contact with others. Our messages are posted online immediately following the morning service and we recommend that you listen there. If you are a high risk candidate (Elderly or with respiratory or heart conditions) or are the caregiver to someone who is, you should be very careful to limit your contact with others. If you have young children you should also use cautionary discernment.
4. We will use extra measures going forward to insure that our facility is clean and as germ free as possible. Hand sanitizer is available and we urge everyone to use sound judgment. Please be extra careful to wash your hands as much as possible.
Lord willing we will not have to suspend our services for much longer but will be soon able to meet, fellowship and worship together. Please stay tuned here on our website for any updates to the situation.
We also urge each believer to join with us in praying for the corona virus situation. We pray that the spread of this virus would be quickly stopped and that no more lives would be lost to it. We also pray for those who are truly frightened about it, some even to the point of panic. There is only one true source of peace and safety, the Lord Jesus Christ and we urge all believers to be ready to share the good news of His salvation with all around you, especially with those who are seeking for peace through these troubled times.
Sincerely in Jesus' Name,
Pastor Mark E Strangman
